How to Use an Ax

How to Use an Ax Safely

Trimming branches is easy, if you do not do as shown in the first illustration. Instead, do as shown in the last two drawings. Always remove branches from the underside, it is easier.

How to Cut Wood with an Ax

The first drawing, from top left, is showing the proper way to cut wood (angle the impact of the ax head as shown in the second drawing on the right). The cutting of wood is easy, if you place in on a log first, just watch your hands. DO NOT cut wood as shown by the RED AX blade (cut only where wood rests on other wood). Split of cut wood ONLY if the wood rests on other wood. You could damage your cutting edge on the ax.

How to Chop Down a Tree

To cut a log, or cut down a tree, vary the angle of the ax head where it meets the wood as shown in the illustration. It makes cutting easier and faster.
