Guns, or weapons as we called them in the military, are good investments and recreational tools for many outdoors types. When I lived in Alaska, only the foolish ventured into the bush without at least a pistol and high powered rifle. Additionally, today many people use them for home security and protection. Costing hundreds of dollars, guns are not cheap, it only makes sense that you protect your investment from damage, unauthorized use and theft. How does one do that?
Trigger locks, as seen in the image above, are placed over the trigger to lock it, which prevents unauthorized or accidental use or discharge. This locking device is most common with a key, but combination locks are available as well. This lock is highly suggested in any home where you have young children or others who may be curious about a gun. While trigger locks may prevent firing of the weapon, it will not keep the gun safe from theft, fire, or other damages. For those who seriously want to protect their guns, Simple Survival highly suggests the purchase of a gun safe .
A gun safe is made tough, to protect you guns from thieves, fire, or other unseen situations that would otherwise destroy your weapons. An advantage of have a gun safe is you can store other important items in the safe as well, such as military discharge papers, marriage license, and so on. But, what I live most about a gun safe is the simple fact it keeps your guns out of the hands of children or others that you feel should not have access to them. Gun safety is a top priority at our home and we install trigger locks on all guns and keep them in our gun safe. It gives us real peace of mind.
