The key to making a 3 pin trap is, not only getting the heavy log up, but positioning the three pieces of wood that must hold the log. I have found this trap hard to balance, due to the sharp point on the two pieces of wood (vertical) holding the center wood with the bait (horizontal). Be sure to use a base as seen in the illustration.
